Community Services
Blood Pressure Checks
We offer free blood pressure checks for citizens at all four fire stations from 7 am to 9 pm, Monday through Friday.
Citizen Ride Alongs
We offer citizens age sixteen or older the opportunity to observe the fire department at work through the Citizen Ride Along Program. Persons wishing to participate must complete a liability waiver and criminal background check prior to being considered for permission to ride. If you are interested in applying for a ride along please contact 360.753.8348, or fire@ci.olympia.wa.us
FDCARES
FDCARES is a non-emergency referral/support service that connects people with services that already exist in Thurston County. Some of these services may be able to help with chronic medical conditions, or for things like fall prevention, medication management, financial assistance, or in-home care support.
These services already exist in our community and many are free of charge. Many people, however, do not know about these services or how to access them. In many cases these service agencies are just a phone call away. These services do not take the place of 9-1-1. However, by coming in before there is an emergency, they can play a role in helping you be independent and more comfortable.
FDCARES is staffed by Gina Harper, CARES Coordinator. She can be reached at 360-522-5113.
Strategic Plan
In 2016 OFD contracted with the Center for Public Safety Excellence to develop a "Community-Driven Strategic Plan" to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding services as we move into the future.
